Description
Acrylic on canvas, painted with pallet knife. I have enjoyed painting with a pallet knife because it makes me be more intentional about what colors to choose when I apply it to the canvas. It’s ironic because painting with a brush seems more rigid and I wanted this artwork to be looser, with less defined, sharp edges.
Inspired by a photo from a friend, I produced the butterfly. It appeared to be a Black Swallowtail and from the underside the yellow spots stood out along with the turquoise blue shades on the wings. So this is sort of an imaginary Swallowtail!
I love watching the Black Swallowtails at our ranch and we have several Bronze Fennel plants for them to host on and reproduce each year.
This print can be purchased on a variety of substrates including canvas, paper, aluminum, totes, pillows, zipper pouches and more! Fine Art America handles all the sales, printing and shipping so you get a quality product when it arrives at your door. Their framing is top quality too so if you want something matted and framed there are many styles and colors to choose from.
