Artist's Description

Playing with Fire

This series of images is a result of shooting the fires we set at our ranch in Texas. We had a lot of dead wood due to the most recent ice storm. Moving the camera while the shutter was still open, caught the motion of fire and made some pretty cool images. There are some pictures where a fire was at the end of a pond and a reflection of that fire in the pond. The result of capturing those fires created a duplicate image because the fire was reflected in the water.

Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products. Slower oxidative processes like rusting or digestion are not included by this definition.

The flame is the visible portion of the fire. If hot enough, the gases may become ionized to produce plasma. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different.

About Cheryl McClure

Cheryl McClure

Welcome to my galleries. My goal is to capture the beauty of the world around us and share it with you! Be sure and follow my most current art journey on Instagram at cherylintexas_art! Art is in my bones... and I see it in my family too. My grandmother, mom, brothers, sons and grandkids all have that artistic ingenuity. I think you can always look around and see something beautiful to behold. From a young age, I enjoyed drawing and painting so being self taught and then going a step further, I worked to receive an Associate's Degree in Art. But I really think that the artistic expression comes from within no matter how much training you have. When you look at an artists works, there always seems to be a pattern or style of some kind....
