Artist's Description
This field of bluebonnets was a striking sight to see with a sea of blue in front of the old barn.
On March 7, 1901, Lupinus subcarnosus became the only species of bluebonnet recognized as the state flower of Texas", however Lupinus texensis emerged as the favorite of most Texans. So, in 1971, the Texas Legislature made any similar species of Lupinus that could be found in Texas the state flower". Their deep blue blossoms can be seen from March through May in most areas of Texas.
[Genus Lupinus, family Leguminosae: several species, in particular the Texas bluebonnet (L. texensis) and the shy bluebonnet (L. subcarnosus).]
About Cheryl McClure
Welcome to my galleries. My goal is to capture the beauty of the world around us and share it with you! Be sure and follow my most current art journey on Instagram at cherylintexas_art! Art is in my bones... and I see it in my family too. My grandmother, mom, brothers, sons and grandkids all have that artistic ingenuity. I think you can always look around and see something beautiful to behold. From a young age, I enjoyed drawing and painting so being self taught and then going a step further, I worked to receive an Associate's Degree in Art. But I really think that the artistic expression comes from within no matter how much training you have. When you look at an artists works, there always seems to be a pattern or style of some kind....

I lived in Texas for 20 years and one of the things I most looked forward to was the wildflower season - the bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, wild Gaillardia in the March sun. The hill country would just come alive with color and scenes like this were around every bend in the road. This is just gorgeous. F/V
