Description
This is the end result from a painting challenge. I chose this vase and drew off the basic shape on a grid with white charcoal. I think it was a little too complex for a 20 minute painting! But the goal is not to have a finished painting at the end of 20 minutes, it’s practicing and exercise for mind to canvas.
My biggest challenge is choosing and mixing enough of each color I see in the picture. Inevitably I see so many colors it’s hard to narrow them down. Thank goodness we mix our paint before we set a timer! I started out with my big brush and at one point I thought I should use a palette knife but then I went back to the brush and ended up using paper towels to blot some of the paint off.
I had stopped at 25 minutes but it was so unfinished looking that I worked on it some more to finish out my perceptions of the reflections within and the shadows outside of it.
