Artist's Description
Isn't it dreamy? I tried to identify this dragonfly but the closest I could get was Erythrodiplax funerea (Black-winged Dragonlet). I had no idea there are so many different species of dragonflies. Note the markings on the wings from the thorax outwards and then the little marking on the edge of the wing. I could not find a species that showed this along with golden markings down the back. If you know what species this dragonfly is, I welcome your info. Please let me know!
Every time we go walking at the ranch I watch and see different ones but so many have similar characteristics.
This one in particular was so happy to pose for me. :) It's funny now the dragonflies will stick around and let you get close to them to take their pictures.
About Cheryl McClure
Welcome to my galleries. My goal is to capture the beauty of the world around us and share it with you! Be sure and follow my most current art journey on Instagram at cherylintexas_art! Art is in my bones... and I see it in my family too. My grandmother, mom, brothers, sons and grandkids all have that artistic ingenuity. I think you can always look around and see something beautiful to behold. From a young age, I enjoyed drawing and painting so being self taught and then going a step further, I worked to receive an Associate's Degree in Art. But I really think that the artistic expression comes from within no matter how much training you have. When you look at an artists works, there always seems to be a pattern or style of some kind....
