Description
The North Sulphur River (3) Acrylic with palette knife on canvas.
This perspective has been my favorite to paint and in this instance, one that was commissioned by a fellow avid fossil hunter! I am so honored that the original painting is residing in a space full of fossils that were discovered by him in this very river!
My goal is to express the rugged nature of this area known as the North Sulphur River, a nearby river/canyon that will be dammed up within the next 5 years so it will become a lake. This vantage point is from the Hwy 34 bridge, north of Ladonia. As the sun sets, it reflects off the water which has carved out the bottom of the canyon and tumbled fossils and shale downstream.
