Description
From my fossil/rock garden and in memory of a fellow fossil enthusiast who we lost recently, to COVID-19, Doug Franklin. He was such a thoughtful individual and well known in our area as a local historian. He loved nature and was key in our Fossil Day events each year.
I’ve been somewhat of a fossil hunter and rock hound, as my parents used to call it, all my life. Now, I live near the hunting grounds of the North Sulphur River. It will be dammed up and will become Lake Ralph Hall completed around 2025, but we are still enjoying our time there. In the meantime we like to hunt for fossils and rocks, some that will stay in the house and others to add to our rock garden.
This bunch includes exogyra, clam, baculites, calcite, petrified wood and various other remnants from the Cretaceous period and from the Oran Formation.
